The Municipal Elected Officials Institute of Government recognized nine summer graduates during the Municipal Association’s Annual Meeting in Greenville.
MEO graduates
The new graduates are these:
- Councilmember Jackie Earls, Union
- Councilmember Mike Easler, Clover
- Councilmember Loyd Fox, Van Wyck
- Councilmember Amy Gavin, Cheraw
- Mayor Sloan Griffin, Blythewood
- Councilmember Liz Hager, Hampton
- Councilmember Sharon Kelley, Woodruff
- Mayor Eddie Moore, Heath Springs
- Councilmember Fred Taylor, Gilbert
The newest graduates of the MEO Institute have completed the required 25 hours of instruction available through the Institute and are now eligible to participate in the Advanced MEO Institute of Government.
The next Advanced MEO Institute sessions will take place October 14 in Columbia. Participants may choose one of two courses: “Advanced Advocacy and Intergovernmental Relations” or “Advanced Municipal Economic Development.” For those members who are Advanced MEO Institute graduates, the Advanced Continuing Education course will take place the same day, covering such topics as decision making, grants, special events and citizen academies.
MEO Honor Roll
The MEO Institute also tracks those city and town councils on which all sitting members are MEO graduates. The current MEO Honor Roll cities are these:
