Uniform Patrol Sergeant, City of Anderson Police Department
The purpose of the class is to enforce all federal and state laws and City ordinances relating to public safety and welfare; to assist in supervising the activities of an assigned shift; to perform patrol work and respond to calls for service, and to perform related supervisory and law enforcement work as required. The class works within a general outline of work to be performed, and develops work methods and sequences under general supervision.
The tasks listed are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional tasks related to the type of work of the class as necessary.
Provides leadership of and assists in supervising assigned subordinate officers; supervisory duties include instructing, assigning and reviewing work, maintaining standards, coordinating activities, allocating personnel, acing on employee problems and recommending employee discipline. Reviews the work of subordinates for completeness and accuracy; evaluates and makes recommendations for improvement as appropriate; offers advice and assistance as needed.
High school diploma or GED and a minimum of 21 years of age. Must be authorized to work in the U.S. and have the physical ability to perform essential job functions. Must possess certification from the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy. Prior supervision is preferred.
Must have Minimum of five (5) years of experience as a certified class one police officer.
Must have approved First Line Supervisor Training from the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy. Documentation is required. Must have approved Law Enforcement Field Training Officer Certification or Training course. Documentation is required.
