Job Duties

The purpose of this position is to supervise, on a first line level, the police officers shift while working from a patrol car and maintaining radio contact with the dispatcher. Performs generally routine or diversified duties requiring judgement in the application of broader aspects of established practices and procedures.

Directs and supervises a uniform patrol team and responds to serious incident calls received by team members. Overseeing personnel and patrol operations to ensure enforcement of state and local laws and department policies and procedures.

Conducts inspections of personnel and equipment; completes quarterly reviews of personnel, disciplines subordinates when appropriate; performs basic law enforcement duties; coordinates with other agencies, city departments, and businesses to keep the City of Isle of Palms clean and safe.

Qualifications

Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent; must possess a Class 1 Basic Law Enforcement Certification from the SCCJA; must have more than four years of experience as a police officer; must have advanced training in supervisory methods.

Must possess and maintain a valid SC driver's license;

Must possess or be able to obtain within six months of employment, Red Cross or other accredited certification in Cardio-Pulmonary resuscitation (CPR).

Pay Info
$67,593 - $78,864 (City is currently finalizing a wage and compensation increase to be effective July 1, 2026. The pay range will increase and an annual incentive pay will be available for some advanced certifications.)
