Job Duties

Manages and coordinates Risk Management, Safety and Security Programs and Wellness Clinic Operations for the City. Oversees Risk Management staff and processes including but not limited to claim settlement and litigation resolution in a fair and equitable manner without negative long-term effects to the City while working to implement an enterprise risk management program. Oversees the operation of the On-site Wellness Clinic to include contract negotiations with third party vendor to leverage the best ROI and determine any additional services required.

Oversees the Emergency management staff and provides oversight to business continuity, security programs and safety investigations. Supervises Risk Management employees to include instructing, assigning and planning work, coordinating activities, maintaining standards and preparing performance appraisals. Plans, coordinates and supervises the implementation and administration of a comprehensive risk management programs to include the City’s liability and casualty insurance programs; identifies loss exposures related to Workers' Compensation, liability, property, crime, flood, cyber security.

Investigates and analyzes accidents involving City employees and/or equipment to ascertain causes and make recommendations to City Management, department heads and supervisors. Manages the claims process with insurance carriers and adjusters handling liability programs. Develops and coordinates the Citywide safety program including safety training, safety incentive and related programs.

Qualifications

Requires a Bachelor’s Degree in business administration, public administration, human resources or related field. Requires three years in risk management or closely related experience, in conjunction with supervisory experience. The equivalent combination of education and related work experience may be considered.
