Job Duties

Chief will oversee all law enforcement operations including patrol, investigations, traffic enforcement, community policing, and emergency response. Manages recruitment, training, discipline, and performance of personnel. Prepares and administers a departmental budget. Develops and enforces policies approved by the SC Criminal Justice Academy, ensures legal and constitutional compliance, leads critical incidents, collaborates with partner agencies, and builds public trust through transparency and community engagement.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree with minimum of 15 years of experience in law enforcement, of which at minimum 5-7 years is in a senior supervisory or command-level role. Demonstrated experience leading personnel, managing operations, and overseeing budgetary demands. Proven ability to lead during critical incidents and under public scrutiny. Valid South Carolina Law Enforcement Officer certification, and a valid and clean driver’s license.

• Not required, but preferred, Master’s Degree; finished or enrolled,

• Experience as a well rounded speaker at public events.

• Involved in planning of public events, police tactical situations, traffic flow and police training for the future

Pay Info
Starting salary will be contingent upon education, training, and experience. The Town of Wagener provides benefits, to include medical, vision, dental, life insurance, annual leave, sick leave, and SC Police Officer Retirement.
