Public Works Technician III, Town of Pendleton
This position requires that an applicant must have considerable knowledge of heavy-equipment operating principles; working knowledge of the hazards and safety precautions common to heavy equipment operations; working knowledge of the methods, materials and tools used in street maintenance, solid waste collection work, and water/sewer repairs.
Operates trucks of various sizes and weights in the loading, hauling, and unloading of various equipment, materials, and supplies, and to remove garbage, recyclables, leaves, limbs, etc. Will conduct Town meter reading Oversee/inspect Town projects and assist in development of as-built drawings. May attend and participate in project meetings for water, sewer, and sanitation projects as directed.
Performs all duties in conformance to appropriate safety and security standards. Other duties as prescribed by the Public Works Director and Assistant Public Works Director
High School Diploma or GED equivalent Three (3) years increasingly responsible experience in street, water, and sewer maintenance.
Ability to understand and follow oral or written instruction; communicate effectively verbally and in writing; observe proper safety precautions; ability to establish working relationships with other employees, supervisors and the public; perform heavy manual tasks under varying weather conditions; drive and operate a variety of equipment under varying weather conditions. Must be authorized to work in the U.S. Must pass a background check.
Special Requirements: Must possess a valid SC Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Class B level or a water distribution license at the Class D or higher. Certification in at least one of the following areas: CPR, AED, & basic first aid; confined space (OSHA); Personal Protection Equipment (PPE).
