Police Officer (Pre-Cert), Town Of Duncan
Under general supervision, exercises responsibilities for the law enforcement of state and local laws relating to public safety and welfare. Exercises supervision over Duncan Police Department officers assigned during their respective shift. Exercises independent judgment in dealing with dangerous or unusual situations, exercising safety practices and procedures. Works under stressful, high-risk situations, and various weather conditions. May be exposed to various bodily fluid exposures and required to wear specialized personal protective equipment.
I. Tasks that require the ability to schedule, coordinate, and manage various projects of varying degrees of difficulty, size, and complexity. II. Tasks require the ability to operate, maneuver, and/or control the actions of equipment, machinery, tools, and/or materials, commensurate with duties of the position. III. Position requires professional social and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to function in a major organizational unit requiring significant internal and external interaction.
Position requires functional reasoning skills enabling the analysis of major problems that necessitate complex planning for interrelated activities that can span one or several work units V. Requires situational reasoning skills allowing for the ability to exercise judgment, decisiveness and innovation in situations involving broader aspects of the organization VI. Participates in arrest, testifies in court, and completes necessary documentation VII. Responds to call for service as necessary VIII. Participates in preparation for shift duties IX. Reviews reports for accuracy and content
- Must be 21 years old - Must possess a valid SC Drivers License and is in good standing - Must pass Physical Abilities test - Must pass Background Investigation, Polygraph & Medical Examination - Must complete a Psychological Examination (Lateral Hire are Exempt)
Physical Requirements: Must be physically able to operate a variety of law enforcement related machinery and equipment which includes: patrol vehicles, automobile, two-way radio, walkie-talkie, pager, telephone, computer, firearms, restraint equipment, copier, etc. Must be physically able to exert up to fifty pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to twenty-five pounds of force frequently, and/or up to ten pounds of force constantly to move objects. Must be able to walk and/or stand for long periods of time. Work frequently climbing, bending, stooping, reaching, etc.
Must be able to pursue suspects on foot and run to the scene of an emergency. Must be able to physically subdue or restrain prisoners alone or with the help of another person. Must be able to search areas that are not easily accessible. Must be able to lift and/or carry and drag weight of one hundred to two hundred pounds.
