Position Hours
12-hour shifts with varying days of the week.
Job Duties

Patrols designated areas to observe and check on homes, businesses and the general welfare. Responds to specific incidents relayed by the dispatcher and conducts preliminary investigations when needed. Promotes positive community relations.

Enforces state and local laws related to traffic and safety for pedestrians and motor vehicles. Serves warrants, subpoenas and other writs and testifies in court.

Prevents the commission of unlawful acts; apprehends criminals or other persons menacing the general public.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent.

Possession of a valid South Carolina driver’s license. Possession of, or ability to obtain within six (6) months of employment, Red Cross or other accredited certification in Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).

Completion of the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy within the first year of employment. SC certified officers

Pay Info
Non-certified applicant pay is $55,000. Pay ranges between $60,000 - $70,004 if certified in SC. Additional incentives available for certain advanced certifications.
