Job Duties

The Parks Assistant Zone Supervisor assists the Parks Zone Supervisor with the daily supervision and coordination of park maintenance operations. This position oversees grounds maintenance activities, supports park improvement projects and community events, supervises maintenance personnel, and serves as the acting Zone Supervisor in their absence. The Assistant Zone Supervisor helps ensure City parks, playgrounds, athletic fields, trails, and public spaces are maintained to the highest standards of safety and appearance.

Assist with supervising, scheduling, training, and directing full-time, part-time, and seasonal maintenance employees. Serve as acting Parks Zone Supervisor during supervisory absences. Oversee and participate in grounds maintenance activities including mowing, landscaping, irrigation repairs, tree trimming, litter control, and facility maintenance.

Conduct routine inspections of parks, playgrounds, athletic fields, trails, and facilities to ensure safety and compliance with applicable regulations and playground safety standards. Assist with coordinating park improvement projects and departmental support for community events. Respond professionally and courteously to citizen inquiries and service requests.

Qualifications

High school diploma, GED, or equivalent. Three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in parks maintenance, landscaping, grounds maintenance, or a related field. Lead worker or supervisory experience. Valid South Carolina Driver's License. Must possess and maintain either: Certified Playground Safety Inspector (CPSI) certification; or South Carolina Pesticide Applicator License.

 

 

Pay Info
Salary Range: $43,211 - $59,189
