Inspector I or II, Town of Moncks Corner
The Inspector performs routine to complex inspections of residential and commercial buildings and properties for compliance with applicable ICC, zoning and related codes and ordinances. The Inspector reports to the Chief Building Official/Chief Fire Marshal.
Inspects all construction sites for proper permits. Inspects all construction sites and businesses for proper and applicable business licenses. Conducts Life Safety Inspections. Assists in enforcing stormwater ordinances ensuring water drainage systems conform to specifications. Conducts field inspections of all properties to ensure compliance with all adopted codes and ordinances of the Town. Prepares inspection reports; prepares and issues notices of correction and stop work orders as necessary.
Addresses code discrepancies and repairs to ensure that all completed work meets or exceeds code minimums. Receives and responds to public inquiries, concerns and complaints as assigned. Gathers information for and prepares various reports as required by the Town and/or other agencies; maintains accurate case documentation. Operates and maintains Town-owned vehicle conducting on-site inspections; prepares and maintains mileage and fuel usage report for department records. Attends any department, civic or other meetings and/or training seminars as required.
Requires a high school diploma or GED equivalent with three years of experience in the construction, codes enforcement, law enforcement, fire service, engineering or architectural fields, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Must possess a valid South Carolina driver’s license.
Inspector II: $57,120.00 – $64,289.00
