Facilities & Grounds Manager , Town of Awendaw
JOB SUMMARY: The Facilities & Grounds Technician supports the Town of Awendaw by maintaining Town-owned buildings, parks, grounds, trails, recreational areas, and public facilities. This position plays a key role in ensuring that Awendaw’s public spaces remain clean, safe, functional, and welcoming for residents, visitors, and community partners. Work includes landscaping, custodial duties, routine maintenance, minor repairs, and operational support for Town facilities and events. This position reports to the Town Administrator.

Minimum Qualifications • High school diploma or equivalent. • Valid South Carolina driver’s license with a clean driving record. • At least one year of experience in facilities maintenance, landscaping, groundskeeping, or related field; equivalent combinations of experience and training will be considered.
Preferred Qualifications • Experience working in municipal, parks, or public sector environments. • Trade certifications (HVAC, pesticide/herbicide applicator, equipment operation, irrigation maintenance, etc.). • Experience in landscape planning, athletic field maintenance, or trail/park maintenance.
Physical Requirements • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly. • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, reach, and operate equipment for extended periods. • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions. Work Environment • Work is performed in indoor facilities, outdoors in Town parks and grounds, and within Town Hall. • Exposure to weather conditions, noise, dust, chemicals, and equipment vibrations should be expected.
