Engineer (Driver/Operator), Town of Ridgeland Fire Department
Performs firefighting work, including preventing, combating, and extinguishing fires to protect lives, property, and the environment. Operates firefighting equipment and tools appropriately. Quickly and effectively analyzes hazardous situations and takes appropriate action. Participates in training, classes, and drills.
Perform general maintenance work of fire equipment and facilities. Operates firefighting apparatus, including pump operations and driving in emergent and non-emergent conditions.

High school diploma or GED supplemented by training in fire service programs or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities; must complete required coursework and maintain required certifications as issued by the S.C. Fire; and must possess a valid and appropriately classed S.C. driver's license.
Preferred courses and certifications include: IFSAC/Pro-Board Firefighter I & II; Emergency Medical Technician; Responder; ICS 100 & 200; Emergency Vehicle Driver’s Training; Pump Operations.
Ability to pass firefighter OSHA physical, must be physically capable of performing all tasks and must participate in physical training programs when off-duty.
