Electric Superintendent, City of Newberry
Job Description Job Title: Electric Superintendent Department: Utilities Reports to: Utility Director Division: Electric FLSA Classification: Non-Exempt Salary Band: Job Summary: The electric superintendent supervises division personnel, and all activities and operations related to electrical distribution. Work involves performing technical work in operating and maintaining the City’s electrical distribution system including overseeing the construction, maintenance, operation, and repair of all systems.
· National Electric Safety Code, National Electric Code, SC DOT, and OSHA regulations · Blueprints, staking sheets, switching orders, work orders, safety manuals, and OSHA compliance reports. · Operating knowledge of City systems, i.e., Cityworks, DataVoice, Tantalus, PayGo, ArcGIS, Edmunds, etc., to ensure electronic systems are kept up to date and operational. · Excellent customer service skills Duties/Responsibilities: · Plans, organizes, and directs electrical distribution system processes to include residential, industrial, commercial uses, traffic controls, and street lighting.
· Oversee the servicing for constomers/citizens such as installing new wire services, troubleshooting, installing yard lights and streetlights, restoring power, etc. · Prepares, reviews, organizes, and distributes work orders, meter test reports, electrical drawings, substation readings, purchase orders, and staking sheets. High school diploma or equivalent. · At least six to nine years of responsible technical experience in electrical line work. · Supervisory experience at a minimum of the Crew Leader level. · Lineworker training and possessing ‘A’ level certification · SC Commercial driver’s license.
· Ten or more years of responsible technical experience in electrical line work as a Class A Journeyman Lineman. · At least three to five years of responsible supervisory experience.
· Monday – Thursday typical hours are 7 am – 5 pm. · Overtime as needed. · Subject to 24-hour callback. Physical Demands/Requirements: · Must be able to work in an outside environment in all weather and elements. · Must be physically able to operate a variety of tools and equipment. · Must be to exert up to fifty pounds of force occasionally. · Must be able to stand for long periods, walk, reach, bend crouch, recline, stoop, and balance in excess of sedentary work. · Must be able to lift up to 100 pounds at times
