Job Duties

The Code Compliance Officer is responsible for enforcing municipal codes, zoning ordinances, business license regulations, and property maintenance standards throughout the City. This position conducts inspections, investigates complaints, educates property owners and residents on code requirements, and works collaboratively with citizens, contractors, business owners, and City departments to achieve voluntary compliance whenever possible.

Enforce City codes, zoning ordinances, business license regulations, nuisance abatement requirements, and other applicable municipal regulations. Conduct field inspections and follow-up inspections to identify and document code violations affecting private property.

Patrol assigned areas of the City to monitor compliance with zoning, property maintenance, and business license requirements. Receive, investigate, and respond to citizen inquiries, complaints, and requests for assistance regarding code enforcement and zoning issues.

Qualifications

High school diploma, GED, or equivalent. Valid South Carolina Driver's License. Must obtain International Code Council (ICC) Property Maintenance Inspector Certification within one (1) year of employment in accordance with South Carolina LLR requirements.

 

 

Pay Info
Salary Range: $43,211 - $59,189
