Job Duties

Provide daily patrol and law enforcement service for the town. The officers are responsible for police patrol, responding to emergencies, code enforcement and investigating alleged criminal violations. The officer works according to set procedures under direct supervision.

Responds to specific incidents relayed by the dispatcher and conducts preliminary investigation when needed. Conducts follow up investigations, enforces city ordinances and state laws, prepares detailed written incident reports, accident report, arrest and search warrants and other reports as required, testifies in court, apprehends, accompanies, and maintains custody of individuals being taken to jail, court, or detention centers, and conducts searches and arrests when probable cause has been established in keeping with the laws of arrest, search and seizure.

Assists at special events as needed, maintains individual equipment in proper working order, and performs other duties as required.

Qualifications

High School Diploma Completion of the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy Valid South Carolina Driver’s License Must be a US Citizen Must be 21 years of age

Excellent oral and written communications skills; excellent physical skills in order to protect the public, themselves and other officers; skill of good judgment to make split second decisions; technical skills in operating vehicles and various police tactical and other equipment.

Ability to handle and carry out law enforcement duties during emergency and non-emergency situations often under adverse weather and environmental condition; ability to deal with disgruntled and violent individuals; the ability to walk, stand, run, stoop crouch, crawl, carry equipment, climb, scale fences, grasp, push pull, sit and stand for extended periods.

Pay Info
$46000 to 49000 a year depending on experience
