Job Duties

Assign duties and monitor deadlines; meet with staff to identify and resolve issues. Review, develop, recommend, implement, and ensure compliance with policies, procedures, and methods. May present information and provide reports to council on business license when requested; provide recommendations and update business license ordinances as necessary. Review business accounts at the end of the year and ensure documentation is prepared for annual renewals. Review cover letters for the mailing of renewal applications; ensure renewal applications are printed, reviewed and mailed.

Oversee field enforcement of business license ordinances; conduct audits of businesses; make on-site inspections of new businesses to ensure all licensing procedures are completed. Oversee process of renewal of applications and provide licenses to the appropriate business. Oversee process of business classification; calculate the business license rates and fees. Oversee process of business audits and reconcile gross receipts reported on business license applications with tax returns, income statements, or any other means to determine gross income; compile findings and notify businesses

Qualifications

Associate’s degree in accounting, finance, business or related field. Five (5) years of experience in accounting, public relations, and general office procedures; and/or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience, which provides the required skills, knowledge, and abilities. Accreditation in Business Licensing by the Municipal Association of South Carolina within three (3) years Must possess and maintain a valid state driver’s license with an acceptable driving history. · Skills: o Supervision o Communication o Detail-Oriented o Customer Service o Problem Solving
