Join Our Team as the Building Official The Town of Hilton Head Island is seeking a dynamic and experienced Building Official to direct operations of the Building Division, ensuring compliance, interpretation and enforcement of all local, state, and federal building, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, energy, fire, ADA and residential codes.

What You Will Do - Serves as the Building Official; directs and oversees researching, drafting, maintaining and interpreting building and related codes; - Supervises and establishes work priorities, delegates and assigns work, provides guidance on code issues for plan reviews and field inspectors to ensure code compliance; - Communicates regularly with contractors, sub-contractors, developers, architects, engineers, and citizens concerning construction requirements; communicates with State, Local and Federal agencies;

- Ensures that all local, state, and federal construction codes are administered in a timely and consistent manner; reviews and interprets adopted codes; - Develops Division goals and objectives; - Sets objectives for code compliance, staff development, and efficient and courteous service delivery; - Conducts comprehensive reviews of commercial and residential plans to ensure code compliance, as needed;
