Voices. Knowledge. Solutions.

The MCAA 101 Mentoring Program connects new and emerging court professionals with experienced leaders across South Carolina. Our mentors bring years of knowledge and a passion for guiding others. They are here to share their experience, answer questions and help the next generation of court administrators and clerks succeed with confidence.

Years of Court Experience: 9

Positions Held:

  • Court Clerk (5 years), City of Goose Creek
  • Clerk of Court (4 years), Town of Moncks Corner

Why I Want to Be a Mentor:
I know how overwhelming the court system can be, especially for someone new. I’ve already helped other clerks by answering questions, sharing resources, and even inviting a new clerk to observe our processes before they transitioned to CMS. I enjoy helping others gain confidence in their role and want to continue doing that through this program.

Biography:
I started working in the court system in 2016 as a court clerk at the City of Goose Creek. There, I assisted the clerk of court, entering citations, working court sessions, overseeing PTI cases and expungements. In 2021, I came to the Town of Moncks Corner as its clerk of court. I manage one employee, though we are growing every day, and I oversee the entire court processes and the court bank account. I came from a court that used Incode, and now, at Moncks Corner, we use CMS, so I am proficient in both systems. I’d love to mentor a new clerk and make them feel confident in their role!

Years of Court Experience: 25

Positions Held:

  • Court Assistant
  • Deputy Clerk of Court
  • Clerk of Court

Why I Want to Be a Mentor:
I was mentored when I began my career, and that guidance was invaluable. This role comes with challenges, and without support, mistakes are inevitable. I want to give back by sharing the knowledge and wisdom that others have shared with me over the years.

Biography:
I have been the clerk of court for the Town of Bluffton Municipal Court since 2006, where I oversee daily court operations, staff management, budgeting and coordination with municipal judges. I bring extensive experience in court administration, scheduling and jury management, ensuring the smooth operation of Bluffton’s Municipal Court.

Years of Court Experience: 30

Positions Held:

  • Certified Court Reporter
  • Administrative Judge and Trial Judge
  • Clerk of Court/Court Administrator (15 years of experience)

Why I Want to Be a Mentor:
I am passionate about supporting the next generation of court professionals. Sharing my experience can help new clerks and administrators build a strong foundation for success. I look forward to strengthening South Carolina’s judicial community by fostering confident, knowledgeable leaders in this challenging and ever-changing field.

Biography:
I am a judicial professional with over 25 years of experience in municipal court operations and legal administration. As the current Judicial Director and Municipal Judge for the City of Mauldin, I oversee all aspects of court management, including budgeting, compliance, staffing and interagency coordination. I have presided over criminal and traffic proceedings, managed court audits and ensured adherence to South Carolina Court Administration standards. In addition to experience and leadership, my commitment remains to uphold judicial transparency and efficiency within South Carolina Summary Courts.

Years of Court Experience: 29

Positions Held:

  • Clerk of Court/Court Administrator

Why I Want to Be a Mentor:
I already teach MCAA 101, MCAA 2.0, Know Your Role, and MEO training in group settings. Mentoring will allow me to work one-on-one with individuals and provide tailored support based on their specific needs.

Biography:
I am the clerk of operations for Greenville Municipal Court, where I have worked since 1998 after beginning my career as a police officer in the Uniform Patrol and Traffic Divisions. With over 23 years of service, I hold dual master’s degrees in management and human resource development, and my work has been recognized nationally by the National Center for State Courts.

Years of Court Experience: 7

Positions Held:

  • Court Services Associate
  • Court Services Specialist of Operations (mentored by Pam Larson since 2021 as her successor)

Why I Want to Be a Mentor:
I have been fortunate to grow under the leadership of Pam Larson and Diana Brock — two powerhouses in the field. Not everyone has that kind of guidance, and I feel a responsibility to share what I’ve learned with others. Through MCAA 101, I’ve seen that clerks and staff are eager for information that’s more in-depth than what short sessions can provide. Mentoring gives me a chance to fill that gap.

Biography:
I have worked for Greenville Municipal Court since 2018. In my time with the court, I have worked in various areas, including payment processing, NRVCs, courtroom processing, jury trials and jail operations, working in a ministerial recorder capacity. Since 2021, I have worked closely with Clerk of Operations Pam Larson as her mentee, which has allowed me to get involved with internal process re-engineering, stakeholder engagement and various projects aimed at improving court operations.
