The Municipal Association of SC’s Risk Management Services will host its first Risk Management Conference August 25 – 27 in Columbia. The theme of this year’s conference is Preparedness in Practice: Protecting People, Property and Progress.
The three-day conference will feature motivational speaker Shellie Forney, whose daughter was tragically killed by a distracted driver. Municipal Association advocacy staff will discuss legislation that could impact members of the SC Municipal Insurance and Risk Financing Fund and SC Municipal Insurance Trust. Additional topics include first amendment auditors, sovereign citizens, reducing risk when terminating employees, a workers’ compensation commission update and a cybersecurity panel. Meteorologist Tim Miller will also present on changing weather patterns in South Carolina.
The conference will take place in Columbia at the Hilton Garden Inn. Access additional details on conference registration and hotel reservations. For Risk Management Institute participants, attendance at all of the sessions will also count as an RMI elective and core credit.
