Job Duties

Mows, maintains, cleans, and takes care of the town’s properties and public spaces, including the cemetery, three parks, green spaces, sidewalks, street curbing and gutters, right-of-way areas, and streets. Ensures that town facilities are clean, orderly, and stocked. Coordinates lawn & landscaping maintenance with staff and outside contractors, as needed.

Collects yard debris from residential locations within town limits. Assists in setting up, tearing down, and moving tables, chairs, and other equipment for events held in town’s public spaces.

Operates and moves vehicles, equipment, tools, and bulky items, as needed. Responsible for upkeep and maintenance of vehicles, equipment, tools, and other items assigned to the department.

Qualifications

Requires high school diploma or equivalent.

Valid state driver’s license (Class B CDL) required. An SCDMV driving history record will be pulled as part of pre-employment background checks.

One year of experience performing manual labor (such as shoveling or digging) and outdoor maintenance work (basic landscaping) is required. Prior work experience in grounds, road, or equipment maintenance is preferred. Prior supervisory or experience working as part of a team is preferred.

Pay Info
$18 - $20 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications
