Job Duties

Administration Duties: Oversees and supervises in planning, training and public events. The lieutenant will also supervise in paperwork for emergency response, evaluations, vacation request and special assignment. Operation Duties: Performs activities necessary to ensure life safety, incident stabilization and property conservation. The Lieutenant is responsible for but not limited to fire attack and extinguishment, protection of fire cause, extrication of victims, providing basic life support and assisting in Hazardous Material responses.

Working Conditions: Frequently performs in environmental hazards and conditions. Health and Safety: Frequent exposure to mechanical hazards, chemical hazards, electrical hazards, fire hazards and physical danger. Protective Equipment Required: SCBA, turnout gear, gloves, helmet, safety glasses, flash hood and hearing protection.

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED equivalent supplemented by training in fire service programs Must complete required coursework and maintain required certifications as issued by the S.C. Fire Academy and S.C. Department of Health and Environmental Control. Must possess a valid South Carolina driver's license or out of state equivalent with a 5-year driving record. National Fire Protection Association Firefighter I; Firefighter II Health and Safety Officer NIMS-ICS for the Fire Service Fire Instructor I, Fire Officer I and Incident Safety Officer IFSAC Driver Operator

Emergency Medical Technician All equivalent certifications and South Carolina Fire Academy granted equivalencies will be considered to suffice these requirements; and out of state training or college courses not considered by the South Carolina Fire Academy will be given equivalency as determined by the Fire Chief. A combination of education, training, and experience may be considered for any training and experience requirements.

Pay Info
$70,000 to $76,000 or higher annually DOE/DOQ, with excellent benefits including paid holidays, participation in the State PORS, State Health Plan with employees’ basic health and dental insurance premiums paid by the Town
