Groundskeeper, City of West Columbia
Oversees the maintaining of work area and grounds at utility sites are in a clean, neat condition. Ensure roadways entering and exiting utility sites are clear from debris. Performs general building maintenance and groundskeeping duties to keep the grounds around the utility sites neat and clean. Duties include cleaning the building, mowing grass, weed eating, edging curbs, pulling weeds, pruning shrubbery. Utilizes such equipment and tools as lawn mower, weed-eater, blower, shovel, pressure water, etc.
Plant, trim, water, fertilize, dig and rake utility sites. Maintains an adequate supply of chemicals and other supplies such as herbicides, pesticides, fertilizers. Orders items as needed. Monitor and report any pest problems to management.
Operate and maintain hand tools, power tools and heavy equipment. Performs preventive and corrective maintenance on equipment. Adheres to safety procedures. (Please see job description for full list of duties)
Vocational/technical school training/education in operating small engines and driving trucks, and at least two years of experience working in grounds keeping; or any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the required skills, knowledge, and abilities.
Must possess a valid SC Driver's License.
