Firefighter, City of Darlington
The Fire Fighter will respond with the apparatus to and from emergency calls in a safe manner. Conducts fire suppression and any other activity deemed necessary to preserve life and property on the City fire jurisdiction. Provide basic C.P.R. and first aid to victims or fellow firefighters at emergency scenes until EMS arrives. The Fire Fighter must be proficient with all tools necessary to perform life saving and fire suppression tasks. Provide fire prevention education to schools, private citizens and industry as needed. Performs other related duties as required.
The Fire Fighter must be able to pass a fire fighter physical and pre employment drug screen from the city medical provider, and yearly physicals as determined by NFPA standards. *Adheres to all safety standards established by the city of Darlington and other regulatory agencies and ensures that those standards are not violated.
Vocational / technical training to include OSHA Fundamentals of firefighting, IFSAC FFII and be certified in areas of medical first responder, hazardous materials, vehicle extrication, rope rescue, confined space rescue and incident management, from the South Carolina Fire Academy or higher authority. Must possess a valid S.C. driver’s have dependable transportation and Provide proof of motor vehicle insurance.
IFSAC OR PRO BOARD FFII, PUMP OPERATIONS, SC CLASS E OR CDL DRIVER'S LICENSE. Must be able to attend department training meetings when off duty.
