Monday - Friday 8:30 am - 5:00 pm. Some limited weekend and nights required.
Job Duties

● Generates content for creative written materials, timely social media posts and website content, with expert-level skills in the areas of writing, editing, graphic design, digital marketing, website development and social media. ● Creates city-wide content; maintains, monitors and updates social media for City pages; and assists and supports other departments as needed. ● Analyzes metrics to evaluate communication effectiveness and reach. ● Ensures the city website and event calendars are maintained and updated regularly.

● Manages media relations to include preparing and distributing press releases, fact sheets and editorials, responding to media requests, and arranging interviews and press conferences. ● Researches and compiles information and talking points for speeches. ● Remains abreast of city-related stories being reported in the media, maintaining and cultivating relationships with members of the local media, as well as community leaders in the city and county. ● Supports crisis communication efforts and ensures information dissemination during emergencies.

● Establishes and maintains a thorough understanding of city functions, activities, programs and plans through direct contact with City Manager, Department Heads, other city staff, public officials and the public. ● Coordinates Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests and responses, maintains logs and responds to requests in a timely manner.

Qualifications

Education and Experience: Associates degree with an emphasis in marketing, public relations and communications preferred, or the equivalent education and training to successfully perform job duties. Must possess ability to multi-task and prioritize responsibilities and duties. Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines. Organized and reliable with written and oral communication skills. Ability to work with others, including a wide variety of professions. Knowledge of graphic design tools, website software, Microsoft Office Professional and database management in a PC environment.

Ability to meet and deal with the public through personal and telephone contact. Ability to exercise a considerable degree of independent judgment in a manner conducive to full performance and high morale. Familiarity with the Greenwood and surrounding areas preferred.
