Internships are paid positions. Internship hours will be determined by the host municipality. The intern is an employee of the municipality, not the Association. 

What should an intern gain from the internship? 

• An understanding of municipal government – why it exists, how it functions, and why it is important to the health of our state. 

• Knowledge of the various job opportunities and roles available within city government. 

• An understanding of the revenue streams that support municipal government and how those are used to make lives better for citizens.

Applicants currently enrolled in an MPA program will be given preference. To apply for an internship opportunity, applicants must complete the online form below.  

The Municipal Association is a conduit for identifying and placing interns. Whether or not hire an intern is at the sole discretion of the individual municipality.
