Palmetto Power Cities is the collective voice for South Carolina’s municipal electric utilities. We believe the most effective policies are built on a foundation of partnership. By working hand-in-hand with legislators and their staff, we strive to ensure every policy supports our shared goals of providing reliable, affordable and locally governed public power.

We take pride in our role as a trusted resource for the South Carolina General Assembly. By working closely with state legislators, we ensure that new policies are practical, sustainable and beneficial for public power. 

• Legislative Monitoring: We analyze proposed state bills to identify impacts on municipal operations. 

• Member Coordination: We gather real-time data from our utility members to provide lawmakers with clear, factual, and local perspectives. 

• Policy Refinement: We offer data-driven insights to help legislators improve proposed bills, ensuring they are sustainable for municipal operations. 

   

Federal Advocacy: A Voice in Washington 

National energy trends move fast. We work to ensure South Carolina’s public power interests are heard by federal agencies and our Congressional delegation.  Additionally, we partner with the American Public Power Association to amplify our impact on federal energy legislation.
