Senior or Principal Planner, Town of Hilton Head Island
The Town of Hilton Head Island is seeking a skilled and experienced Senior or Principal Planner to perform professional planning, analytical and project or team leadership tasks related to the Town's Comprehensive Plan and administration of the Land Management Ordinance (LMO).
What you will do as SENIOR PLANNER: Implement Town Council goals and the Town Manager’s Work Program. Coordinate research, analysis, and drafting of documents related to the Comprehensive Plan and its updates. Assist with research, drafting and preparation of LMO amendments. Participate in Capital Improvement Program projects. Administer project budgets; coordinate activities of public project development; present proposals to Boards and Commissions. Facilitate public meetings. Perform routine field inspections. Coordinate and facilitate the application process.
What you will do as PRINCIPAL PLANNER: Provide day-to-day project leadership by planning and prioritizing tasks, coordinating outcomes, and participating in providing difficult and complex planning-related services and activities in assigned program area. Implement Town Council goals and Town’s Strategic Plan while acting as Project Manager. Implement Comprehensive Plan and drafts updates. Draft RFPs, review consultant proposals, prepare contracts, maintain documentation. Evaluate land development applications and documents. Write and coordinate implementation of Town policies.
Qualifications for SENIOR PLANNER: Bachelor’s degree and five years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Valid driver's license.

Principal Planner: $79,200 - $88,800 DOQ
