Job Duties

Under the general supervision of the Sanitation Department Supervisor, operates equipment used in collecting solid waste, assists in emptying curbside roll-carts and containers into garbage truck, and performs routine equipment inspections and maintenance.

Assists with necessary repairs, maintenance, and servicing of vehicles and equipment as needed (including washing, greasing, fueling, etc.), and assumes responsibility for operating equipment safely and efficiently (including participating in safety training).

Regularly interacts with sanitation department and other town staff and provides exceptional customer service to the public.

Qualifications

Requires high school diploma or equivalent and a valid SC drivers license; valid CDL preferred.

Requires basic mechanical knowledge of related equipment (garbage trucks, hydraulic lifts, safety equipment, etc.) and basic skills in equipment maintenance and service.

Requires ability to perform manual tasks for extended periods of time, work safely, communicate effectively, understand and carry out written and oral instructions and directions, and to establish and maintain work relationships with public, employees, supervisors, and other departments.

Pay Info
$12-15 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications
