Job Duties

Supervises designated shift personnel which involves instructing, assigning, reviewing, and planning work of others, maintaining standards, coordinating activities, allocating personnel, acting on employee problems, motivating officers toward goals, recommending disciplinary actions, and conducting performance appraisals.

Design/update recruiting strategies in accordance with national recruitment and retention research and best practices, develop recruitment programs and events, develop professional relationships with professors, community stakeholders, military personnel and others to attract and expand a diverse pool of applicants.

Work in partnership with human resources in the selection and hiring process through the development of job-related interviews, oral panels and assessment exercises, coordinate and assist with background investigation process, and assist with internal promotional assessments and processes. Participate in speaking opportunities and presentations and provide exceptional customer service to individuals interested in applying for employment and while in process of being hired.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, police science, law or related field. Three (3) years of experience in law enforcement at the rank of Corporal; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Class 1 Law Enforcement Officer with the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy. Must possess and maintain a valid state driver’s license with an acceptable driving history.
