Public Safety Officer, City of Folly Beach
Patrols assigned area on foot or using vehicle to regulate traffic, control crowds, prevent crime, or arrest
violators. Apprehends criminals or persons menacing the public, serves warrants, subpoenas, and traffic
tickets.
Responds to crime sin progress, initiating actions such as aid to victims and interrogating of suspects. Conducts
preliminary investigations at the scene of accidents or crimes and conducts intelligence gathering operations where necessary, locates witnesses, makes arrests, appears in court to present evidence and testify against persons charged with crimes.
Serves as a First Responder and administers first aid and artificial respiration to injured persons. Participates in drills and emergency preparedness/recovery exercises.
Possession of a High School diploma or GED and a valid SC driver's license.
South Carolina LE1 certification is preferred or successful completion of South Carolinas Criminal Justice
Academy’s Basic Law Enforcement Course within 12 months of date of hire.
Must be at least 21 years of age with no criminal or misdemeanor convictions. A person in this position must be able to pass a rigid physical test and pass a background check.
