Part-time Clerk of Municipal Court, Town of Swansea
The Clerk of Court provides clerical and non-judicial support to assist the municipal judge ensuring compliance with all applicable laws and regulations, the proper collection and disbursement of court fines and fees, and the maintenance of accurate and complete court records. The Clerk makes sure procedures and processes are current by attending professional training and maintain accurate financial procedures.
Enter tickets into the Law Trak (will train). Schedule hearings and maintain an accurate court docket. Print out court dockets for court and officers, which is held once a month (the 2nd Tuesday and Thursday of each month). Receive daily payments and prepare daily bank deposits. Retrieve credit card payment reports daily and receipt in CMS Receipt and monitor restitution and scheduled time payments. Maintain accurate and complete court files. Organize files in a neat and tidy manner, schedule hearings, mail summons, clock in court documents, add new case parties, etc.
Must be able to attend and work evening court from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. once a month.
CERTIFICATIONS: Must be CJIS certified within two weeks of hire. NCIC Inquiry Certification - for basic clearance to perform typical court duties. This is an online test. Must acquire NCIC Inquiry Certification – advanced clearance (able to run criminal histories). This includes an 8-hour off site certification class. Become VSP certified within one year of hire and recertified every two years. This is done through yearly attendance to either the MASC conference or the Judge’s Association conference. Maintain a current Notary Public status.
Must pass Criminal back ground check.
