Job Duties

The purpose of this classification is to install, maintain and repair water distribution system infrastructure for the Department of Public Utilities as assigned. This is an entry level position for the series.

Essential Functions: Performs general installation and repairs to the water distribution system. Repairs asphalt and concrete after repairs to water distribution system. Receives and completes work orders. Operates a personal computer and other electronic devices.

Utilizes maintenance, work order, or department-specific software. Utilizes, operates and maintains various equipment, power tools, hand tools, and supplies in order to complete work assignments. Adheres to established safety procedures. Communicates with supervisor, other employees, the public, and other individuals as needed.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications: High School Diploma or GED required; supplemented by one year of heavy equipment experience in a related work environment; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job. Must reside within a radius of Orangeburg, SC that allows for a 30-minute maximum response to call outs and emergencies.

Specific License or Certification Required: Must possess and maintain a valid South Carolina Driver’s License. Must be able to obtain a South Carolina Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).

Pay Info
$16.38 / hour - $26.20 / hour
