Municipal City Clerk / Executive Assistant to the City Manager, City of Newberry

Job Duties

Supports the City Manager with administrative and advanced office management skills. The successful candidate will be extremely productive, professional, and able to handle multiple tasks with high levels of customer service, organization, and accuracy.

The City Clerk attends City Council meetings, prepares, and maintains City Council agendas, memorandums, as well as keeping the meeting minutes. In this role, it is imperative that the Clerk is meticulous and detail oriented while assisting with City ordinances, resolutions, petitions, and other documents for Council's consideration.

The City Clerk must have exceptional customer service and communication skills as they are the City’s liaison with citizens and general public for the City staff, City Manager, and City Council. This position also performs receptionist duties for City Hall.

Qualifications

Must be able to handle multiple tasks, including answering a multi-line phone system, and be comfortable using multiple computer programs simultaneously; demonstrate a high level of customer service and detail orientation to include extreme organization and time management skills.

Must possess strong written and oral communications skills and can communicate effectively across diverse populations.

Must be able to attain municipal clerk training certification through MASC. An associate degree supplemented by two to four years of administrative or technical experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Pay Info
$45,000 annually
