Job Duties

Assembles, maintains and repairs machinery and vehicles to ensure functionality and reliability of machines, engines and mechanical systems with great attention to detail. Must be able to work with various machines and tools as well as follow all safety precautions. Build and assemble machines or mechanical components according to requirements. Inspect machines, engines, transmissions etc. and run diagnostic tests to discover functionality issues and conducts repairs aiming for maximum reliability.

Troubleshoot reported problems and resolve them in a timely manner and perform thorough maintenance on machinery, equipment and systems. Cleans and applies lubricants to machinery components and replenishes fluids and components of engines and machinery. Provide consultation on correct maintenance and preventative measures to machine or vehicle users. Undertake other duties as assigned (e.g. repair of hydraulic systems, painting vehicles etc.) Keep logs of work and report on issues.

Operates a personal computer to enter, retrieve, review or modify data, utilizing word processing, spreadsheet, database, Internet, e-mail, or other software; and operates general office or other equipment as necessary to complete essential functions. Operates or uses various machinery, equipment, power tools, hand tools, and supplies in order to complete work assignments; and operates and maintains basic mechanics tool kit and/or vehicle-specific maintenance tool sets.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED required, supplemented by vocational or technical training in auto mechanics or a related field; supplemented by zero to one year of experience in the maintenance and repair of equipment and vehicles; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.

Must possess and maintain a valid South Carolina Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) including appropriate endorsement(s).
