Job Duties

Reports to work and leaves work on time as scheduled; adhere to lunch and break schedules as explained in personnel manual; when applicable schedule leave in advance. Displays respectful, cooperative, and helpful attitudes toward fellow employees and the public. Performs preventive maintenance and complete repairs on all town vehicles and equipment, including but not limited to gas and diesel vehicles/engines and light and heavy equipment utilizing “tools of the trade” as directed by Fleet Shop Supervisor.

Assists Fleet Shop Supervisor with all preventive maintenance, repairs, and service calls. Performs duties in accordance with town policies, safety regulations, and applicable laws. Participates in various types of projects as needed throughout the year. Other duties may be required or assigned at the discretion of the town, including EOC.

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED and 2-years training in auto/truck vocational school or 2-years experience in auto/truck related field or equivalent. Oral and written communication skills with ability to read and write legibly and understand and carry out verbal and written instructions. Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule format.

Mathematic skills with ability to make basic computations in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Possess and maintain a valid South Carolina Commercial driver’s license, Class B minimum.
