Job Duties

Manage and ensure the efficacy of the various information systems utilized within our government operations. This role is crucial for maintaining secure and reliable IT operations. Key Responsibilities:

1. System Management: Ensure continuous availability of all IT systems. Manage system installations, configurations, and updates. Monitor system performance, VIOP, printers NVR/DVR camera systems. Manages servers, workstation, laptops, networks, wired and wireless infrastructure. Maintains data backup solutions, patch management, hardware, software upgrades.

2. Network Management: Maintain, upgrade, and manage software, hardware, and network infrastructures. Ensure network security and connectivity. Firewall and VPN setup and configuration a plus.

3. Data Management: Ensure data confidentiality, integrity, and availability. Backup systems, and data protection as per the applicable laws and policies.

4. User Support and Training: Provide technical support and training to end-users. Develop and document system procedures and train users accordingly.

5. Security Compliance: Enforce IT policies and procedures to ensure system security. Coordinate with departments to ensure IT security compliance.

6. Vendor Management: Liaise with vendors and consultants to ensure efficient system implementation and upgrades.

7. Project Management: Lead IT projects to enhance and optimize the local government’s IT environment.

8. Supervisory and Management Responsibility: Assist the CIO with managing the assistant systems administrator and help desk technician.

Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, or related field.

Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience as an IT Systems Administrator.

Certifications: Relevant certifications such as CompTIA, MCSE, CCNA are highly desirable. Or any equivalent combination of education, certifications and experience which provides knowledge, skills and abilities.

Key Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are a MUST! Proficient in system management and security protocols. Knowledge of data backup, recovery, and IT protocols. Strong problem-solving and communication skills. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Familiarity with local government IT requirements and challenges is a plus.

Physical Demands / Work Environment: The work is typically performed while sitting at a desk or table or while intermittently sitting, standing, or stooping. The employee occasionally lifts light and occasionally heavy objects, climbs ladders, and uses tools or equipment requiring a high degree of dexterity. The work is typically performed in an office or computer room. Outdoor work may be required as well as after normal business hours / weekends as needed.

Pay Info
Entry Salary $72,861 depending on qualifications
