GIS Manager, City of Myrtle Beach
Responsibilities include supporting innovative GIS solutions across desktop and the web as well as in the INFOR system, development of reports, dashboards, and other analytics to be used by various departments to improve workflows and day to day operations. In turn, the ability to maintain the GIS database integrity along with updating and creating data is critical for sound data and reporting ability. Maintain an understanding and awareness of the new GIS software available in the market and implementing new techniques and software as they become available to increase data sharing.
Provides technical support, training, development, consultation, and information to GIS system users, staff members, and officials regarding operation of hardware and software, procedures, problems, and related issues; answers users’ questions; troubleshoots and/or resolves problems. The ability to create both digital and printed maps, graphs, and other representations of data along with analytics for both public and internal request. Also, sending data packages as part of FOIA request when required is the responsibility of this position.
Proficiency in ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, GIS Server management, maintaining rest services, maintaining and updating data sharing agreements. Additionally, the development of reports, dashboards, and other analytics to be used by various departments to improve workflows and day to day operations. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work as a member of a team are paramount. Develop, write, and maintain Python workflows in the ESRI environments (including ArcGIS Pro). Work with ArcGIS Desktop and ArcGIS Pro.
Associate’s Degree with training emphasis in Geography, Geographic Information Systems, Computer Science or related field supplemented by 2 or more years of experience working in a GIS related field. Required to possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.
Industry standard certifications such as GISP and ESRI technical certifications; Programming experience such as Python; experience working with ESRI ArcGIS online and desktop versions; 2 or more years working in a management or supervisory role preferred.
Physical Ability: Tasks require the ability to exert light physical effort in sedentary to light work, but which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of light weight (5-10 pounds). Tasks may involve extended periods of time at a keyboard or workstation. Sensory Requirements: Some tasks require the ability to perceive and discriminate colors or shades of colors, sounds, depth, texture, and visual cues or signals. Some tasks require the ability to communicate orally. Environmental Factors: Essential functions are regularly performed without exposure to adverse environmental conditions.
