Job Duties

Edits GIS data to update managed assets from sources to include as-builts, GPS data, engineers, surveyors or observations from field operations personnel in the field. Assists with the continued development, implementation and management of the city’s GIS–based and GIS-dependent applications and systems. Performs spatial queries and analysis to create maps and reports. Prepares illustrations, specialized maps, design graphics and reports for city and other agencies. Performs GIS and data conversion.

Develops and expands the GIS layers to integrate and work more efficiently with the City’s work management system. Prepares and maintains accurate and complete project documentation. Establishes tables using Excel and SQL Server; imports tabular data into GIS to create visualizations. Receives and/or reviews reports, map requests, deeds, plats, maps, sketches, QC plots, correspondence, GIS update sheets, GPS data, etc. Prepares and/or processes maps, reports, GIS layers and various other reports, records, memos, correspondence.

Coordinates information exchange, according to established protocol and procedures, with the City’s GIS coordinator. Refers to policy and procedure manuals, laws, codes, ordinances, regulations, computer manuals, tax maps, deeds, plats, atlases, training manuals, survey plots, various data bases, etc. Prepares maps for various purposes and departments using GIS software.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Geographic Information Systems, Geography, Computer Science or related field and four (4) years of experience in GIS using ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Online; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Familiarity with Python and JavaScript/HTML/CSS is preferred. Must obtain FBI/CJIS Security Clearance and bi-annual certification.

Must possess and maintain a valid state driver’s license with an acceptable driving history. Experience with local government, preferred.

Pay Info
Dependent on experience, minimum salary $49,938.
