Director of Public Works, City of Newberry
We are looking for an experienced public works director to provide efficient and effective operations for the streets and grounds, vehicle and equipment maintenance, and the building maintenance divisions. This is a crucial role that will oversee the engineering and inspection related functions as needed in the areas of land development, capital improvement projects, traffic, and special projects.
Maintaining local, state, and federal regulations regarding the programs and divisions for sidewalk construction, street resurfacing, “C” bonds; responsible for maintaining SC DOT communications, including encroachment permits; applying for grants and following guidelines as dictated in the grants.
Prepares annual departmental budget; monitors expenditures and capital project budgets; prepares cost estimates for City projects; develops and manages Capital Improvement Projects; directs the preparation of plans, specifications, cost estimates, and contract documents.
HS Diploma/GED minimum; prefers a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, or related field, supplemented by five to eight years of progressively responsible experience in a public works department with at least one to two years of related supervisory experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Must possess or have ability to obtain a valid SC commercial driver’s license class A.
$86,060 - $105,297 annually based on credentials, education, experience, and achievements.
