Director of Planning and Zoning, City of North Charleston
Plans, organizes and directs the activities and functions of the department.
Supervises professional, supervisory, technical and support staff. Supervisory duties include instructing, assigning and planning work, reviewing work, maintaining standards, coordinating activities, allocating personnel, selecting new employees, acting on employee problems, and recommending and approving employee discipline and discharge.
Reviews the work of subordinates for completeness and accuracy; evaluates and makes recommendations as appropriate; offers advice and assistance as needed.
Requires a Master’s degree in city/regional planning or public administration supplemented by six to nine years of local government planning experience, some of which have been in a supervisory capacity, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
