Director of Planning and Building, Town of Lexington
The Town of Lexington is accepting applications for the position of Director of the Planning and Building Department. The Director will manage the Town’s operations in areas of planning, zoning, building inspections, business licensing, code enforcement, and building maintenance. Additionally, the Director will serve as the Town’s Zoning Administrator, administering and enforcing all municipal land-use ordinances; creating and amending land-use ordinances and plans; leading the plan review process for proposed residential and commercial developments.
Serving as staff liaison to the Planning Commission, Board of Zoning Appeals, and Board of Architecture and Appearance; communicating with the public and members of the development community about development projects; maintaining the Town’s land-use records; and coordinating the annexation of property into the municipality.
Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration, Urban Planning or other relevant field, five to seven years of experience in planning and local government administration, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Must possess a valid state driver’s license.
