Director of Fleet Services, City of West Columbia
Assume management responsibility for all services and activities of the Fleet & Equipment Services Division. Manage and participate in the development and implementation of goals, objectives, policies and priorities for fleet and equipment maintenance services including the maintenance and repair of all light and heavy vehicles and equipment. Recommend within departmental policy, appropriate service and staffing levels; recommend and administer policies and procedures.
Continuously monitor and evaluate the efficiency and effectiveness of service delivery methods and procedures; assess and monitor workload, administrative and support systems and internal reporting relationships; identify opportunities for improvement and review with the Assistant City Administrator of Public Operations; implement improvements. Manage and participate in the selection, training, motivation and evaluation of Fleet and Equipment Services personnel; provide or coordinate staff training; work with employees to correct deficiencies; implement discipline and termination procedures
Plan, direct, coordinate and review the work plan for the Fleet & Equipment Services Division; meet with staff to identify and resolve problems; assign work activities, projects and programs; monitor workflow; review and evaluate work products, methods and procedures. Manage and participate in the development and administration of the Fleet & Equipment Services Division annual budget; monitor expenditures; direct and implement adjustments as necessary.
Equivalent to a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration or a related field supplemented by specialized training in automotive and fleet and equipment maintenance and repair.
A minimum of seven years of increasingly responsible experience in the maintenance and repair of all types of light and heavy automotive and other fleet and equipment, including three years of supervisory responsibility. Extensive knowledge of computer software are required.
Applicants must possess a valid South Carolina driver’s license with good driving record, CDL preferred. A certified true copy of 10-year driving record required for interview.
