Job Duties

Serves as a “goodwill ambassador” for Public Safety by providing friendly, helpful customer service to the general public. Enforces certain town codes/ordinances. Conveys information and explains violations while being understanding and courteous by listening to other parties and using tact to defuse situations. Conduct special traffic and patrol requests.

Responds to calls for service, which include parking enforcement, motorist assists, lost persons and articles reports, private property accident reports, lift assists, and minor first aid under the direction of the EMS, and other non-criminal calls for service and reports that assist a sworn officer. Traffic controls at the intersection of Kiawah Island Parkway and Beachwalker Drive during the AM and PM peak hours and other times as needed. Assists public safety officials with traffic or accident calls and provides other assistance.

Takes photos and documents incidents and events, providing photos and reports to appropriate parties. Answers beach calls as needed and assists in beach enforcement of town ordinances. Deploys, monitors, and retrieves speed trailers and traffic counters as needed for traffic studies and managing traffic on Beachwalker Drive and the Town’s portion of the Kiawah Island Parkway.

Qualifications

Requires a High School Diploma or GED and one to two years of general clerical experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Valid SC driver's license or ability to obtain by the start of employment. You are required to pass the training for First Aid and CPR certifications.

Pay Info
Salary range $44,793 - $69,430 annually + benefits. This position will start at $45,000.
