Business Development and Communications Manager, Town of Irmo
Under limited supervision, plans, organizes and implements economic development functions from conception to completion, research and creation of equitable economic development strategies including business retention, business attraction, provides guidance to individuals and companies to establish, relocate, or expand business opportunities within the community. Manage the Town’s social media applications that include websites, Facebook and any other media outlets. Establish, coordinate and manage Town events to include, the Annual Christmas Tree Lighting and Okra Strut Festival.
Responsible for curating business relationships, recruiting new business, encouraging business expansion, planning and organizing the implementation of business development projects, and coordinating public services and other related programs. Works closely with the Irmo Chamber of Commerce and/or other organizations to identify promotional opportunities for business recruitment, business expansion, and retention within the Town of Irmo. Ability to manage the Town’s social media programs that currently consist of website, admin Facebook, police Facebook, and Instagram.
Operates the video equipment and record all council meetings, and official gatherings of town officials to include live-streaming and data storage. Interfaces with IT support personnel to ensure smooth recording options, server upgrades off-site storage capabilities and operation of plotter and GIS interfaces. Uses a variety of supplies such as router / network cards, telephone / data cards, printer toner, ESRI Software, plotter paper, printer paper, general office supplies; along with computer software such as ArcGIS, Incode, Microsoft Access, Microsoft Excel, and other proprietary programs.
A bachelor’s degree in business, communications, marketing or related field preferred, supplemented by four or more years of responsible experience in business development, marketing or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience, which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. Must have a valid driver’s license.
