Previously, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration did not require employers in the public sector with fewer than 10 employees to record employee injuries and illnesses on OSHA Form 300 or post this information on Form 300A. This exemption no longer applies to employers in the public sector in South Carolina.  

All establishments covered by OSHA must now complete OSHA Form 300, the Log of Work-related Injuries and Illnesses, throughout the year and must post OSHA Form 300A, the Summary of Work-Related Injuries and Illnesses, each year from February 1 to April 30 in an area visible to employees. This South Carolina-specific regulation can be found in Chapter 71, Section 71-301 of the SC Code of State Regulations.    

Each January, the SC Municipal Insurance Trust emails its members a summary of claims reported the previous year to assist them in completing OSHA Form 300A.
