The American Society of Landscape Architects awarded Greenville Mayor Knox White with an honorary membership, one of the Society’s honors given to non-landscape architects. The Society honored White for his passion for environmental stewardship and belief in healthy, safe communities.

The National League of Cities presented Lexington Mayor Pro Tem Hazel Livingston with its Women in Municipal Government Leadership Award. The award recognizes female municipal officials for their unique and outstanding leadership in local government.

The Pedestrian and Bicycle Information Center designated the City of Columbia as a Walk Friendly Community for its commitment to improving and sustaining walkability and pedestrian safety through comprehensive programs, plans and policies. Columbia is the only South Carolina city with the WFC designation.

Members of the SC Municipal Human Resources Association recently selected their 2015-16 board of directors. President Donna Kazia, Appalachian Council of Governments; First Vice President Alicia Davis, City of Aiken; Second Vice President Robin Entrekin, City of Clinton; and Member at Large Dora Perry, City of Tega Cay.​
