All municipal elected officials, candidates for municipal office, chief administrative officers (regardless of the name of the position, including city administrators or city managers, chief financial and procurement officers (or similarly titled positions)

Annually by March 30 for activities in the prior calendar year

Electronically file with the State Ethics Commission

Failure to file or intentionally misrepresenting information is a misdemeanor and could result in a fine, jail time or both. If a municipal official discovers errors or omissions after filing, he should amend his SEI form as soon as possible.

What's New?
As of January 1, 2017, municipal officials and others who are required to file a Statement of Economic Interests will also be required to include the source and type of income received by the filer and his immediate family in the previous year. The Municipal Association has developed a flowchart to help walk officials through the process of determining what should be included.
