SCMIT and SCMIRF Recognized Accredited Law Enforcement Agencies

Eighteen different law enforcement agencies in the Risk Management Services programs are recognized as accredited law enforcement agencies by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc., or CALEA; and the South Carolina Law Enforcement Accreditation, Inc., or SCLEA.

CALEA was created in 1979. It recognizes public safety agencies who have demonstrated compliance with CALEA standards. The accreditation process focuses on standards that provide best practices related to life, health and safety procedures for the law enforcement agency. These departments are accredited by CALEA:

  • Aiken Department of Public Safety
  • Goose Creek Police Department
  • Greenwood Police Department
  • Isle of Palms Police Department
  • Mauldin Police Department
  • Mount Pleasant Police Department
  • North Augusta Department of Public Safety
  • Rock Hill Police Department
  • Spartanburg Police Department
  • Sumter Police Department

SCLEA has been recognizing dedication, excellence and professionalism in South Carolina law enforcement since 1999. It is a voluntary program for professional improvement, designed to meet local needs while also demonstrating a commitment to professional law enforcement practices. The following departments are accredited by SCLEA:

  • Cayce Department of Public Safety
  • Clemson Police Department
  • Florence Police Department
  • Mauldin Police Department
  • Newberry Police Department
  • Rock Hill Police Department
  • Spartanburg Police Department
  • Summerville Police Department
