Main Street South Carolina has awarded two local Main Street programs with COVID-19 Economic Stabilization Grants to help provide targeted assistance specific to local needs.
Having met rigorous requirements, Main Street Hartsville and Main Street Laurens will each receive $3,500. Hartsville will use funds to help customize its Main Street program website, expanding the program's digital footprint and online presence. Laurens, meanwhile, is providing one-on-one marketing guidance for downtown businesses. Each program is also in the process of creating a mural in its downtown district.
As the state coordinating program and a technical assistance program of the Municipal Association of SC, Main Street SC created these grants to fund projects that provide impactful placemaking for downtown communities and their small businesses during the present crisis. The programs receiving a grant must provide a $500 match and submit an impact report. All projects must be completed by December 14, 2020.
