Water Plant Operator Trainee, City of West Columbia

Full time, Rotational 12-hour shift from 7 to 7, which includes some weekends and holidays
Operates and controls electric motors, pumps and valves to regulate flow of raw water treatment facility and operates and maintains distribution pressure and storage tank levels.
Monitors SCADA System and makes adjustments as necessary.
Runs quality checks on water every two hours; runs Colilert test daily; monitors chemical feed systems and tanks; calibrates and standardizes lab equipment.
High school diploma, GED, and/or vocational/technical school education/training in water treatment plant operations, or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provides the required skills, knowledge and abilities.
Must possess a valid South Carolina Driver’s License.
Minimum starting salary of $26,121.45 annually or higher depending on qualifications with excellent benefits package including 13 holidays and participation in the State Retirement System, the SC Deferred Compensation Plan, and the State Health Plan with the employee’s health and basic dental insurance premiums paid by the city.
